Help!
Here's the wind history that toppled our oar lockers: 25 mph coming from due south.
The oar lockers need some work to be ready for their first winter season and to best serve our needs. The oar lockers attached to the boathouse (3,4,5,6) and to the west racks (8,9) are examples of good construction that need to be applied to all of our lockers. The list of tasks and lockers needing work are as follows:
- Secure lockers1 and 2 to boathouse from inside similar to lockers 3,4,5, and 6.
- Remove and lay down lockers 7,10-15 in preparation for tune-ups.
- Place extra 1 1/4" screws around door and jam perimeters: 1,2,7, 10-15
- Remove 4x4 bases from lockers: 7,10-15
- Create level base with concrete and 2x6 PT lumber bases: 10-15
- Create level base with wood shims and 2x6 PT lumber: 7
- Raise, align, level, and secure all south end lockers: 7,10-15
- Use 1x2 fir strips to buffer base attachments to 2x6 PT footings: 7, 10-15
- Drill 1/2" drain holes in locker base between footings: 1,2,7,10-15
- Install oar blade baskets inside near top of lockers: 7, 10-15
- Switch hasp-pin order from L-R to R-L (hasp on door, not locker): all lockers
- Paint exterior (one more coat): all lockers
- Put roofing material on tops to help aging: all lockers
- Place small weather awning above door tops: all lockers
